In 2019, the levels of attainment at the end of Key Stage 2 in Year 6 were broadly in line with average for reading and writing but well below in maths, with 69.2% of pupils attaining at least the expected standard in reading, 69.2% in writing. In mathematics 46.2% achieved at least the expected standard. This is below the national average.
38.5% attained at least the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics. The percentage of pupils that attained the 'higher standard' in reading and mathematics was below the national average at 7.7%. The national average was 11 %. The average scaled score for the cohort (where 100 is the expectation) was 101.8 in reading, 99.2 in mathematics.
The school's judgement is that children have made good progress in Key Stage 2 in reading and writing; cross-referencing the school's tracking data with work in books and observations of teaching and learning. In mathematics progress was not as strong and well below the national average.
- The progress score in reading was -2.5
- The progress score in writing was -1.71
- The progress score in mathematics was -5.67
Maths was a key focus for school improvement in light of this data. The school adopted Power maths , a DFE recommended scheme. This is having a very positive impact with results in 2022 broadly in line with national expectations (see table above)
