Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

In Class 4 we have Year 5 and Year 6.

Miss Smith is the class teacher

A note from Miss Smith…  Happy New Year everyone! We have lots planned for this term, with our new topic- Blood heart.  I am looking forward to another great term of learning with Class 4.    We have had a very productive Autumn term with our two great topics and lots of learning - the children have made brilliant progress, I am pleased with each and every one of them.

Year 6 - To help your child prepare for their SATs examinations in May we shall be selling revision guides for you to purchase - more details to be given later about these.

Grammar - Having worked with them in the past, I am delighted to say that we will be working alongside the team at Teaching Live to deliver Grammar sessions to Year 5 and 6 this term. TeachingLive.Net is a sequence LIVE weekly interactive UKS2 Grammar lessons created and delivered by author and Pie Corbett. This sequence of LIVE lessons harnesses the latest blogging technology to give our children a  global audience. TeachingLive.Net brings together live teaching and modelling with children participating and getting immediate feedback.

PE - PE lessons will take place on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons delivered by the Lancashire sports partnership. The children should wear suitable clothing for sports.

Reading— It is very important that children—of any age—have stories read to them and that they are also listened to and questioned about their reading books. Can you please use the yellow reading record to note when you have    listened to your child read or encourage your child to record their own notes about what they have read.

Spellings  - Each week we will have a focussed objective for spelling and every morning we will study related spelling patterns, the children will be set 10 to 20 words featuring that pattern to learn at home and in school.  On a Friday the  children will be tested on ten of those words.

Forest School– will not take place this half term but will resume after the February half term week.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s academic or social welfare just call into the office to make an appointment to see me either before or after school
