Class 4

Welcome to Class 4 for 2020 - 2021.

In Class 4 we have Year 5 and Year 6.

Mrs Smith is the class teacher and Miss Harrison-Scott is our teaching assistantt.

Sports Day 2021

Look at what we have been learning this year

A note from Mrs Smith…

Welcome back everyone and I hope you had a relaxing break.  This term sees the start of our new topic - Mexico.  This will last for the duration of the summer term.  Following the children’s return to school I will now be planning lessons to address any gaps that may have arisen - especially in core areas such as Maths and English.  We have a new teaching assistant starting in Class 4 - Mrs Harrison-Scott (who you may recognise from covering in the office).  Mrs Harrison-Scott is a qualified teacher and will be well placed to support and guide the children in their lessons.

Year 6

There will be no SATs this year and teacher assessments will be used instead to inform the High School of individual pupil’s progress. As we move closer towards the end of Summer term we will have a clearer idea of what we can do to        celebrate and mark the end of the girls primary school journey and I will share that with you nearer the time.

PE - PE lessons will take place on Tuesday and Friday delivered by the Lancashire sports partnership. All children must wear appropriate clothing for sports.

Reading— It is very important that children—of any age—have stories read to them and that they are also  listened to and questioned about their reading books. Can you please use the yellow reading record to note when you have    listened to your child read.

Spellings  - Each week we will have a focussed objective for spelling and every morning we will study related spelling patterns, the children will be set 10 to 20 words featuring that pattern to learn at home and in school.  On a Friday the  children will be tested on ten of those words.

If you have any questions or concerns just call into the office to make an appointment to see me or catch me on the door after school.

Thank you,

Mrs Smith
