Class 4

Welcome to Class 4 for 2020 - 2021.

In Class 4 we have Year 5 and Year 6.

Mrs Smith is the class teacher and Miss Harrison-Scott is our teaching assistantt.

Look at what we have been learning this year

A note from Mrs Smith…

Welcome back, I hope you had a relaxing summer break.  We are all ready for the new academic year with class 4 in which we have a positive atmosphere with a lot of fun and laughter but lots of learning too.

Class Trips - There will be two visits this term, one to Chester Zoo to support the learning in our Darwin topic and another trip to the Fire training centre in Bury for a Fire safety and awareness workshop.  A letter regarding these trips will be sent out shortly.

PE -  PE will take place on Tuesday and Friday and will be delivered by the Lancashire sports partnership. PE kit must include pumps or children may work in bare feet. No trainers or jewellery allowed.

Forest School - During the Darwin Topic there will be Forest School sessions planned - a separate letter will be sent out giving you these dates.

Reading Pupils are free to choose from the school library, or your child may bring a book in from home. The emphasis is on developing  reading for pleasure and  children’s understanding of a book, its plots, sub plots and character analysis. The most important thing is that your child has a book they will enjoy reading  although I shall monitor the books to make sure they are not too difficult for the pupils reading ability.

Music - The children will be taught Music on Friday afternoon by the Lancashire School Music Service

Spellings  - Each week we will have a focussed objective for spelling and every morning we will study related spelling patterns, the children will be set 10 to 20 words featuring that pattern to learn at home and in school.  On a Friday the  children will be tested on ten of those words.

If you have any questions or concerns, I am available to discuss your child’s academic or social progress – just call into the office to make an appointment to see me or catch me on the door after school.

Thank you and I am looking forward to another successful year with class 4!

Mrs Smith
