Welcome to Class 3!

Mrs Williams is the Class Teacher

  A note from Mrs Williams…

A huge ‘Thank you!’ to all of Class Three for making our first half term of this year so enjoyable, we have already had lots of fun and learnt so much! Thank you to everyone who came to see me on Parent’s Evening, it was lovely to see so many of you and celebrate the hard work and progress all the children are making. We continue with our main class topic, ‘The Romans in Britain!’ until Christmas and we will be finding out all about Electricity in our Science lessons. Please see the more detailed Curriculum map for more detail and take a look at the new topic homework suggestions! I am delighted with all the FANTASTIC work that has come in from last half term; our display looks brilliant. Well done to all the children who earned a certificate!

P.E.  Continues on Tuesday mornings and a second P.E. lesson will take place on Friday afternoon, please ensure your child has a named P.E. kit in school - trainers are optional for outdoor lessons. Thank you.

Spelling - Your child will be taught spelling daily in class and bring home a spelling pattern or rule to focus on each week. Their understanding will be assessed on Thursdays and a new list given. Spare spelling lists are available all week in the classroom for children to help themselves.

Reading Thank you to so many parents that are supporting your child’s reading at home. Please continue to listen to your child read as often as you can and record this in the blue Reading Record book. Your child will read with me in a focused Guided Reading group on a weekly basis, as well as on a daily basis within lessons. Each child is responsible for changing their own book when needed, within the stage they are on. We are focusing on detailed understanding and comprehension of texts this year so please try to talk about the main events of the story / characters in the book / where the story takes place/ what will happen next etc.  Each child should also have a Library book  and the opportunity is given once a week for this to be changed.

 Times Tables

Please encourage your child to learn their times tables as we practise them every week, they should have a red practice book to complete at home /in school. The children will be given the opportunity to earn certificates as they progress. Please note it is important they understand the related division facts:       8 multiplied by 5 = 40   so    40 divided by 5 = 8

 Snacks

Named water bottles and healthy snacks may be bought into school—toast is available to order on a daily or weekly basis.

If you have any questions or concerns, I am available to discuss your child’s  academic or social progress–just call into the office to make an appointment or email me
