18th March

This week in Class 2, we have been working hard in RE to learn all about the Easter story.

The children have created Lenten Books, recounts of Good Friday and their very own Palm leaves.

Year 2 have finished their unit in Maths about Length and Measure and have now started their new unit all about Shapes. Our focus of the week has been to explore quadrilaterals and to remember that a square can be identified by looking for 4 equal sides and 4 right angles. Next week we will move onto 3D shapes.

Year 1 have continued working with numbers to 50 and have worked hard to speed up their recall of the 2 and 5 times-tables.

In Science we have investigated the human body as part of our topic of Animals including humans. I was particularly impressed with the Year 2's understanding of more specific scientific language to use when identifying a body part.

In English this week, some of our children have practised their oracy skills by reading aloud to their friends in class; they created a story and then took pride in their work by reading it for others to hear.

Geography this week has continued to focus on the UK and looking at famous landmarks in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

A big well done to the 8 children that represented our school at the KS1 Athletic event at St Bedes Catholic High school on Tuesday, as they competed against other local primary school in events such as obstacle, relay, speed bounce and javelin. They were all very well behaved and tried their hardest in each event, I was very proud of you all!

Congratulations to our Star of the week, James! You have worked hard with your spellings and reading.

Another great week Class 2.
