11th March

Year 1 are to continue counting in 2s, 5s and 10s at home.

Year 2 should be counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and should now be practising counting in 3s up to 30.

Year 1 are learning about numbers to 50. This week we have been trying to partition double digit numbers into tens and ones. Please continue to practise identifying how many tens and ones are in a number for example 45 = 4 tens and 5 ones.

* Sometimes we muddle up our teen and "ty" when pronouncing fourteen and forty, please keep reminding your child at home of the difference.

Year 2 have moved on from their previous unit studying statistics and are now learning about length and height measuring in centimetres and metres.

Forest school- the children loved visiting forest school again and worked on a number of activities. They created mini habitats our of natural materials and used magnifying glasses to search for other creatures.

In Geography this week we have been identifying and trying to explain the difference between human and physical features in the UK. The children worked hard to sort the pictures into physical (made naturally) and human (made by people).

In RE we have been learning all about Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday. The children have started to create a lent calendar in class and booklets to demonstrate their understanding.

In Science we are continuing are theme of looking at 'Animals including humans' and this week we looked at different animals diets. We were able to sort the animals into herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.

Read Write Inc

* Yellow and Blue group will move from having their books changed every 3 days to every Friday. As they move onto longer books we feel that it will be best for us to practise reading over 5 days in school before taking it home to enjoy with their family.

*Pink group will continue to change theirs every 3 days.

*Children no longer on RWI can change their books at break times

Children are encouraged to change library books as often as they want to.

This week we have also welcomed two new friends into Class 2; a big welcome to Callie-Mae & Elliot.

Finally, a big well done to Abe for becoming our star of the week!
